I'm back (From outer space)

Thu Aug 28, 2008, 3:34 PM
As you may have guessed by the title of this journal (Unless you suffer the terribl, terrible desiese that plagues many deviants out there, where they cannot read titles and are shocked and/or appalled by what they find), I'm back from New York City. It waas fun while it lasted, and now I can get back to working on my main projects for the year.

In NYC

Sat Aug 23, 2008, 12:48 PM
Well, it's day 3 in New York. So far I've seen Wicked and Avenue Q in Broadway theatres. Both were surprisingly decent, and I might see one more show. I'll be back home and doing other stuff (mostly school related regretably) in a couple of days.

Oh well,

Steve

I did it

Tue Aug 19, 2008, 11:03 AM
Well, read above. I finally put all of the stuff for the Nightmare tournament online. While I'm not pleased with the comic part of it, or any of the drawing in general, I feel the writing is pretty superb. WHich means from now on I'll be writing everything. I might even type out my audition and put that up.

On a side note, I'm not working anymore, and I'm going to NYC on Thursday.

Cherrio,

Steve

Updates of sorts

Tue Jul 8, 2008, 5:29 PM
Well... not much to add... work's started, and I've just made a present head for the costume I have to wear tommorow (Wednesday for the logically challenged).

Also, after almost a month, we've finally named our new kittens. My sister and I named the boy, and I can say that I am honestly pleased with the result. After much deliberation, he became Mojo. That's right, as in Austin Power's mojo. As in Banjo-Kazooi's Mojo. And as in perhaps the greatest Mojo of all time, Mojo Jojo.

Unfortunately, my brother and mom were responsible for naming the girl, and I am less then pleased. I don't even feel the begrudging acceptance I thought I would feel. My mom's a pushover, so her name is... get this... Twinkle. She's smoke grey. It's barely a name. If I had a gay friend, and he was a stripper, his stripper name would be Twinkle. That's about the only example I could find. And it doesn't even sound good. I'll spend some time fruitlessly negotiating with my brother for a name change, but things are looking grim. Worst comes to worst, I'll just call her Cat her entire life.

[Insert because I'm too lazy to rephrase everything]

I also picked up a copy of Alone in the Dark. Seriously one of the best games ever... until the final chapter. Then it's just random root hunting for meaningless hours. So I'll never beat it, but whatever. The first most of the REAL game is fantasmorgasmic (with an enphasis on the fantastic). Highly recommended.

[End random insert]

Finally, on a different note, I'll finally be getting my replacement laptop. IT's gonna be either a tablet (probably) or possibly this sick Toshiba notebook that runs about twice as fast as your average top-of-the-line non customized laptop. It'll happen sometime this next coming week or two, and I'll finally be able to get on with my next point.

The Nightmare Tournament. I'm pretty sure I've still got some time, and everything's about done, so as soon as the PC comes in (with an 80% chance of the desperately needed Photoshop) I'll get right on it.

  • Listening to: My bro, sis, and her friend watching Fool's Gold
  • Reading: Poorly written and/or creepy fanfiction
  • Watching: Epic battles between my dog's toy and my kittens
  • Playing: Dark Crusade, Alone in the Dark
  • Eating: Stolen Popcorn, Candy
  • Drinking: Nothing as of yet

What's that smell?

Sat Jun 14, 2008, 5:16 PM
Well, I put this off again, but it would appear that I've started to fall behind again. Damn.

Well to answer the above question title, it's an interesting smell. It smells like triumph to me. Got most of my exam marks back, and they range from a low 90ish to a goddamn perfect. Sure these things happened two weeks ago. Sure I've known for a week. But you know what? I'm lazy. So every now and then I'll bring up 2-5 weeks of information just because of that.

I also signed up for one of those tournament things. It's called Nightmare I believe, and so far, it looks pretty decent. I've finished my sketches and base storylines, so just a few things have to get into place.

Overcoming the lazy? Miraculously, check. I've become a lot more efficient and determined in the past couple of days, so I'm finally going to do all the shit I've been putting off. Scanner? Check. Picture editing program?

Eh... that's where the problems start. I've got Paint. For anyone that plays around with the control panel, you'll know it's no Photoshop (Which I wish I had at home). Some may bravely venture into calling it shit. While it manages to do things that somehow no other program does (I don't know why, there actually really decent ideas), in the usability aspect, it lacks in more ways than one. Apparently there are other, more efficient programs on my PC, so I'll go hunting and spend a few days learning to use them (If they manage to work well). Then hopefully I'll get this ball rolling.

Until later,

-Steve
