In NYC

Sat Aug 23, 2008, 12:48 PM
Well, it's day 3 in New York. So far I've seen Wicked and Avenue Q in Broadway theatres. Both were surprisingly decent, and I might see one more show. I'll be back home and doing other stuff (mostly school related regretably) in a couple of days.

Oh well,

Steve

Well, it's hard too say. Overall, the music in Avenue Q was better, but Wicked has catchier songs (I still have Popular and Defying Gravity stuck in my head). Being next to my brother at Avenue Q kinda ruined it, and I got way better seats at Wicked... I'd say I enjoyed Wicked a little bit more, because it was one of the big ones (Most shows have 6-10 people playing all the roles, while about 4 plays/musicals have 20-30 people. Wicked was one of those). Avenue Q was a bit more budget, with 7 people avting it, with 4 of them playing 8 puppets (Avenue is like Sesame Street meets Rent meets hilarious). Wicked was also more impressive then Avenue, but once again, budget. I guess I liked them about the same, if they could've been on the same level. Both were exceptional though.

Also, I loved how well Wicked tied in with the original Oz storyline. The Wizard's leaving was a bit weak though, when it could've been good. The psychopathic Tin man was awesome though.

Sorry for the rant,

Steve
